Roshini Centre for Development Initiatives of the province of Bangalore is a nongovernmental organization that works with children in difficult situations, children on the street, children in domestic work, child laborers, orphans, trafficked minors, school dropouts, children in the slums, and child victim of conflict and violence. It started with a humble beginning of a small group of children in 2012 and this has spiraled to a big group of students in a short span of time which even includes the students who were dropouts and were trained under skill training under different domains and are now working successfully. It draws inspiration from Bishop Stephen Ferrando SDB, a saintly man of the 20th century and Founder of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC) with a desire to do something for our country and a vision to bring about a healthy change in the education system especially for girls.
Today Roshini has 30 resident children who are provided with food, shelter, clothes, care and education. Besides this, it reaches out to more than 200 neglected children and girls through street, contact, residential, vocational and educational mentorship programmes.
Its initiative to promote primary education among underprivileged children has helped many to go through a balanced program that helps them improve their learning capacities, life skill and English knowledge and it brings out their talents as well as gives the students enough time for studying as well as pursuing other interests.
It started providing training for various domains as BPO, ITES, ISMO, Retail management, Hospitality, Housekeeping, Communicative English etc in the year 2010. Since then thousands of students got trained for 3 months and are now successfully working under different companies and many are self employed with a fluent English language.
Its interest to support and equip the girls who are very much interested but unable to continue their education due to various reasons within their families and their commitments has helped many to complete their education and take up professions in the field of engineering, nursing, finance and many others.
